Free with your API keys
Record browser or desktop meetings, choose transcription and summary providers, then review notes in the app. Keys stay in the operating-system credential store; audio is saved locally before processing.
Use the floating recording control in Meet, Teams, Zoom web meetings, Discord, or Slack. Chrome may require a toolbar click or shortcut to start. Save tab audio and your microphone separately, then export the archive and import it in the desktop app to transcribe and create notes. For direct system-audio capture, use the desktop app.

Record
In the desktop app, add and test provider keys, grant audio access, and record. Extension recordings are imported for processing.
Review
Review notes in desktop local history. If enabled, finished desktop notes sync to your selected web workspace.
Ask your notes instead of searching them.
Ask your notes is included with Hosted Pro (300 questions a month) and Hosted Team (2,000 a month). Type a question and get an answer drawn only from your own meetings, with a link to each note it used. If the answer is not in your notes, it says so.
“What did we decide about pricing?”
An example question. The answer cites the meetings it came from, so you can check it in one tap.
“What action items are still open?”
Works across every meeting in your workspace, and only your workspace. Meeting hours and questions are separate allowances, so asking never uses up recording time.
More than live calls.
These come with Hosted AI. Your own-keys setup stays free and keeps live capture, transcripts and summaries on your device.
Import a recording
Upload an audio or video file you already have and get the same transcript, summary and action items. The file is deleted once it is processed.
Templates and speaker names
Choose Standup, Sales call, 1:1, Interview, Lecture or General notes, and rename a speaker once to fix it everywhere.
A library with folders and Trash
Nested folders, text notes you can edit, and 30 days to restore anything you delete.
Slack, Notion, Zapier and AI assistants
Send finished notes to a signed webhook, Slack or Notion, or let an MCP-compatible assistant read your own notes with a token you can revoke.
25 languages
Set or detect the spoken language, add custom vocabulary, and write the notes in another language.
Where your audio and notes go.
It depends on the mode you pick. Here is exactly what happens.
On your device first
Raw microphone and meeting audio is written to your device before a provider call. A failed upload does not erase saved audio; after a crash, the app offers recovery of audio that was saved.
With Hosted AI
Audio is uploaded to private, temporary storage only to be transcribed, then deleted. We keep your text notes, not your recordings, and every workspace is isolated from the others.
With your own keys
Your keys stay in protected storage on your device and go only to the provider you chose. We never receive your keys or recordings. Finished note text stays local unless you enable workspace sync.
You can delete any meeting, and workspace owners choose how long hosted notes are kept. If you choose to connect Google, AI Notetaker creates Google Docs in your Drive only for meetings you choose to export, and can see only the files it creates. It uses Google data for nothing else. How we handle Google data and the full privacy notice.
Keep the details that move work forward.
Example workflows, not customer stories.
Product and project teams
Find the decision, who owns the next task, and when to check back, without replaying the recording.
Interviews
Stay in the conversation instead of typing. Come back to the exact answer and your follow-up questions.
Client work
Capture agreed scope and next actions after a working session, ready to send as a recap.
Follow-ups
Every action item lands in one inbox across meetings, with owners and due dates you can tick off.

No. The Chrome extension captures browser-tab audio, and the desktop app captures browser or desktop audio from your device. Nothing joins the participant list. You are still responsible for telling participants and following the recording-consent rules that apply to you.
What is the difference between Hosted AI and using my own keys?
The desktop app uses your own transcription and summary API keys, which you enter in its Settings. The software is free and does not require an AI Notetaker login. You can separately sign in to a web-app workspace and create a revocable desktop sync token. Sync sends finished desktop notes to the web app and copies workspace notes into the desktop library. Web edits refresh workspace copies on sync; desktop-origin notes are protected from automatic overwrites. Deletions and settings do not sync back, and extension recordings still need archive export and import.
How much does AI Notetaker cost?
Using your own AI keys is free (the providers you choose bill you directly). Hosted AI includes 3 free meetings with no card. After that, Pro is $12 / month for up to 300 meetings or 60 meeting hours a month, and Team is $39 / month for a shared workspace with up to 2,500 meetings or 200 meeting hours a month. Both include Ask your notes (300 and 2,000 questions a month), file import, notes templates, the library, integrations and the MCP connection; Team adds an activity log for workspace owners. Imported recordings use the same monthly meeting hours as live meetings. Cancel any time from the billing page.
Can I ask questions about my past meetings?
Yes. Ask your notes is included with Hosted Pro (300 questions a month) and Hosted Team (2,000 a month); the free trial and bring-your-own-keys mode do not include it. Answers come only from your own meeting notes and link to the notes they used. Questions do not use up meeting hours, the allowance resets each billing period, and your questions and answers are not stored.
Will I lose my notes if I clear my browser history?
Desktop recordings and notes are stored in the app's private data folder, not browser storage. Browser extension recordings stay in Chrome until exported and imported into the desktop app. If you enable workspace sync, finished desktop note text also appears in that web-app workspace; sync currently goes from desktop to web app only.
Can I import a recording I already have?
Yes, with Hosted AI. Open Import in the web app and choose an audio or video file (mp3, m4a, wav, mp4, mov, mkv and more, up to 1.9 GB). It is transcribed and summarized like a live meeting. A single file can run up to 4 hours on Pro and 6 hours on Team, and its length counts against your monthly meeting hours. The file is deleted once it has been processed. Imported files have no separate microphone channel, so speakers appear as Speaker 1, Speaker 2 and so on when the provider can tell them apart; you can rename them afterwards. Importing in the free own-keys mode is not available yet.
Can I choose the format of my notes and rename the speakers?
Yes, with Hosted AI. Pick a template per meeting: General, Standup, Sales call, 1:1, Interview or Lecture, and rewrite a meeting's notes with a different template later (up to three times per meeting; your action items are kept and the earlier text can be restored). Click a speaker's name in the transcript to rename them once; the new name replaces the old one throughout the transcript, summary, action-item owners, exports, shares and Ask your notes.
Which languages are supported?
With Hosted AI you can set a spoken-language hint or let the transcriber detect the language, write the notes in a different language than the one spoken (for example, a translated summary), and add custom vocabulary so names and jargon are spelled correctly. 25 languages are offered for hints and summaries. Accuracy depends on the transcription provider and the audio.
Can I send notes to Slack, Notion or Zapier, or use them with an AI assistant?
Yes. A workspace owner can set it up so that when a note is ready it is sent to a signed webhook (use it with Zapier, Make or n8n), a Slack channel or a Notion page. Webhook signing secrets and tokens are stored encrypted and shown only once. For AI assistants, you can create a read-only token in Settings and connect an assistant that supports the Model Context Protocol (MCP) to search and read your own notes; it cannot change or delete anything, and you can revoke the token at any time.
Can I organise notes into folders and recover deleted ones?
Yes. The hosted library has nested folders, plain text notes you can write or edit yourself, and upload of .md or .txt files. Search and Ask your notes can be limited to a folder. Deleting a note or folder moves it to Trash, where you can restore it for 30 days before it is removed for good.
Can I cancel any time?
Yes. Cancel from the billing page. Your plan stays active until the end of the period you already paid for, and your recordings on your own device are never affected.
Do you store my card details?
No. Payments are handled by Stripe, which collects and holds your payment details. We only see your plan and its status.
Where is my audio stored?
On your device first, before anything is sent anywhere. With Hosted AI the audio is uploaded to a private, temporary staging area only so it can be transcribed, and it is deleted as soon as processing succeeds. Uploads that never finish are removed within 24 hours. The hosted library keeps your text notes, not your recordings.
Which AI providers process my meetings in Hosted AI?
Transcription runs on Groq and summaries run on OpenAI. Both receive only what is needed to process your meeting. In free own-keys mode, audio and text go only to the providers you select, using the keys you supply.
Can I record browser meetings in Google Meet, Zoom, Teams, Slack or Discord?
Yes. In Chrome, use the floating control on supported meeting sites, the toolbar popup, or the recording shortcut on the tab where the call audio is playing. Chrome may require a toolbar click or shortcut before the floating control can start capture. This works for web versions of Google Meet, Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Slack, Discord, and other meeting sites; exact behavior depends on the browser and site. For a meeting in a desktop app or another browser, use AI Notetaker for macOS, Windows, or Linux to capture system audio and your microphone. Cross-platform app and device checks are still in progress.
When should I use the extension or desktop app?
Use the Chrome extension for a meeting playing in a Chrome tab. It saves the tab and microphone audio in Chrome; export the archive and import it in the desktop app to transcribe and create notes. Use the desktop app for browser meetings in any browser and for meetings in desktop apps. The desktop app stores and processes its recordings locally, and can optionally sync finished notes to a web-app workspace.
Is AI Notetaker open source?
Yes. It is MIT licensed and the source is on GitHub. You can read exactly what runs on your machine, and you can self-host the optional meeting-history app.
What happens if my browser or computer crashes mid-meeting?
Audio is written to your device as it is captured, so a crash does not lose what was already recorded. The desktop app checks for unfinished recordings on startup and offers recovery.
Can I delete my meetings and data?
Yes. You can delete any meeting, workspace owners can set how long hosted notes are kept, and you can export your data from your account page. Deleting a meeting or folder from the hosted library moves it to Trash, where you can restore it for 30 days before it is removed for good; delete it from Trash to remove its transcript and summary immediately.
Where can I read my notes?
If you enable workspace sync, finished desktop notes appear in your selected workspace, and workspace notes are copied into the desktop library for local viewing. Web edits refresh workspace copies on the next sync; desktop-origin notes are protected from automatic overwrites. Deletions and settings do not sync back. Browser extension recordings remain in Chrome until you export and import them into the desktop app, so the extension does not yet share the live library.
